Seven shot in Chelsea

A young man is dead and seven other people are injured following an early morning shooting in Chelsea on Sunday.

The lone fatality in the shooting was a 19-year-old Chelsea man, according to a release from the Suffolk District Attorney’s Office. He has not been identified.

The other victims’ injuries were described as non-life threatening. Authorities identified them as three men, ages 15, 18 and 22, and three women, ages 15, 17 and 18.

Neighbors to the apartment in the area of 120 Washington Street first called police around 2:40 a.m., the release said. Responding officers found six people suffering gunshot wounds and one person with an injury unrelated to gunfire, DA spokesman Jake Wark wrote in an email.

State and local police are investigating.
