Two New Hampshire men have been charged in connection with an incendiary devicethat exploded inside a newspaper box containing copies of a LGBT newspaper last August in Salem.

John Richard, 23, of Hollis, and Lawrence Cilman, 20, of Milford, are expected to be charged with malicious or wanton defacing or damaging property over $250, as well as throwing, secreting, launching or placing an incendiary device.

They will not face hate crimes charges as police said they could not find evidence that the box was targeted specifically because of its LGBTcommunity affiliation, according to WCVB.

The attack on the Rainbow Times box in Lappin Park was captured by a surveillance camera, police said.

Police said the newspaper’s boxes have been targeted before.

Richard and Cilman be arraigned at 9 a.m. Friday, police said.
