Charlie Baker will endorse fellow Republican Governor Chris Christie for president on Friday, according to published reports.

The Massachusetts leader is one of several sitting GOP governors backing Christie, according to Politico, which named endorsements by Maine Gov. Paul LePage and Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan.

Though Christie lags behind, the Boston Globe reported that “Baker is personally fond of Christie and wants to stem the rise of more conservative candidates.”

“With his backing, Baker is in a way repaying an eight-figure favor Christie did for him in 2014, when Baker was locked in a tight gubernatorial race with then-Attorney General Martha Coakley. The Republican Governors Association, which Christie chaired at the time, invested over $11 million in Massachusetts, part of a $130 million outlay that year, according to the group’s records,” the Globe added.

The Globe reported that following his endorsement, Baker will appear with Christie at a rally Saturday morning in New Hampshire, the site of Tuesday’s primary, before returning to Massachusetts.

The pair was, however, reportedly spotted in Boston at the same event Thursday night, according to CBS Boston, at Jersey native Bruce Springsteen’s concert.
