The father of Bella Bond, known as Baby Doe before her remains were identified this summer, has been arrested for shoplifting.

Joseph Amoroso, Bella Bond’s father who said he never met his daughter, was arrested Tuesday in South Boston and charged with larceny over $250 after he allegedly tried to take more than $600 worth of Home Depot products, WCVB reported.

After he was arrested, WHDH reported that Amoroso allegedly told police, "I should've run. That cop would never get me. Fact.” Amoroso also allegedly said, "Do you know who I am? I am Baby Doe's father," WHDH added.

Gloves, safety glasses and a fuel band saw are among the items he allegedly attempted to steal, WCVB stated, adding that police said they also found hypodermic needles in his pockets.

"Now you can tell everyone that you locked up Bella Bond's dad," Amoroso allegedly said to police, WCVB added.
