Boston Police recovered a loaded gun from a suspect in broad daylight on Monday.

Officers working the Youth Violence Strike Force made an arrest on Wayland Street. They were on patrol in the area in response to recent radio calls for shots fired. Officers recognized the suspect, Michael Reynolds, 21, of Dorchester as a known gang associate. They were also aware that Reynolds had been shot during an incident on Sunday, May 3 2015 on Hancock Street, where an arrest was made and more than 19 spent shell casings were found on the street and a loaded gun was recovered from the dashboard of a nearby bullet riddled car.

Officers said Reynolds ran into the backyard of 75 Wayland Street and were able to apprehend him. Officers recovered a small bag of marijuana and a loaded Sig Sauer .45 1911 semi-automatic handgun.

Reynolds was charged with unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, carrying a loaded firearm, trespassing and receiving stolen property. He will be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.
