The Bruins have coveted a top-flight defensemen for what seems like forever, and it finally looks as though Don Sweeney is closing in on one. Sweeney is preparing an offer sheet for Winnipeg Jets defenseman Jacob Trouba, according to a CSNNE report.

The price tag is too high for many fans and pundits though as the the offer sheet will “total a minimum of $47 million.”

“Have seen the ‘rumors’ but it makes no sense to sign @JacobTrouba to the offer sheet referenced. Too much money and 4 first round picks,” tweeted NESN Bruins pre-game analyst Dale Arnold on Wednesday.

As for a potential Milan Lucic reunion, there have been mixed reports regarding him signing with the Oilers. Former Edmonton sports writer Curtis Stock said he “got it from a good source” that Lucic had agreed with the Oilers. Lucic told WEEI.com’s DJ Bean that Stock’s report was “bull s—.”

As for the dream acquisition of Steven Stamkos – Tampa Bay, Detroit and Toronto look like more likely landing spots than Boston.
