Police are asking for the public’s help in finding a hit-and-run suspect after the driver struck a wheelchair-bound woman.

The vehicle hit the 77-year-old victim Sunday at about 4:40 a.m. while traveling in the southbound lane of Columbia Street near Lincoln Street, police said.

The victim remains in critical condition at a local hospital.

Video footage captured the vehicle, described as a 1996-1999 Ford Taurus that is either green or blue, with possible front-end damage on its bumper.

The vehicle flednorth toward Somerville on Webster Avenue and Prospect street, police said, adding that officers do not have a description of the suspect, but believe the person was alone in the car.
