The Middlesex District Attorney’s office has announced that a 50-year-old Arlington man died from injuries he sustained in a car accident shortly after the start of the new year. James McLaughlin died Saturday, according to Middlesex District Attorney Marian Ryan.
Investigators say McLaughlin was the driver of an SUV that left the road and struck a tree on Pleasant Street in Arlington around 1:30 a.m. on New Year’s Day.
McLaughlin’s car went off the road near a curve in the road, travelled over the sidewalk and hit the tree so hard it was knocked over.
Two passengers in the car suffered minor injuries.
A police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
