A British man landed in hot water for allegedly taking a leak on an airplane, among other offenses, forcing the plane flying from London to Houston to make an emergency landing at Logan Airport on Wednesday.

Darren Halliwell was arraigned in East Boston Municipal Court on Thursday on charges of disrupting an aircraft operation, disorderly conduct and assault and battery. He was held on $5,000 bail and was ordered to stay away from Logan and remain booze-free.

Prosecutors said Halliwell was on a British Airways flight when he had a few too many alcoholic beverages and became belligerent, yelling at a 14-year-old girl who was traveling with her family. He allegedly acted aggressively toward flight attendants who tried to calm him down.

They even woke a woman with whom Halliwell was traveling in hopes of calming him down. According to prosecutors, Halliwell backhanded the woman in the face, then urinated on the floor and a few seats.

The flight was diverted to Logan Airport, where Massachusetts State Police attempted to remove Halliwell from the plane. Prosecutors said as troopers escorted him off the plane, Halliwell stumbled repeatedly and spoke incoherently and slurred when troopers attempted to speak with him.

He will return to court on July 29.
