Red Sox TV broadcasts will look a lot different next season and not just because new GM Dave Dombrowski is expected to shake up the roster.

Popular play-by-play announcer Don Orsillo will not return to Red Sox broadcasts on NESN in 2016 as he will not be offered a new contract. Dave O’Brien, currently the Red Sox’ radio play-by-play man on WEEI and a National announcer on various ESPN broadcasts, is expected to take over.

According to a report by the Boston Globe’s Chad Finn, industry sources say that Orsillo was “never a favorite of Joseph Maar, NESN’s vice president of programming and production, who arrived at the network in July 2012.

Orsillo had been the main play-by-play man at NESN since 2001, when he took over for Sean McDonough.
