A Dorchester man was charged with vehicular homicide and leaving the scene of an accident after heallegedly hit and killed an 8-year-old girl and injured a 12-year-old boy in Mattapan on Saturday night. James Horton, 45, allegedly fled the scene after he hit two children near 100 West Selden St. around 11 p.m., a Boston Police spokeswoman told The Boston Globe.
The boy suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries. The girl was pronounced dead at a hospital. Witnesses told police that Horton hit a parked car and a fence, then tried to flee on foot.
He is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester Court today.
