A 59-year-old New Jersey woman suffered serious injuries Thursday morning in a tractor-trailer collision on the Massachusetts Turnpike in Auburn.
The woman was driving a Volvo semitrailer when she rear-ended a flatbed trailer that was carrying building materials, state police said.
The woman became entrapped in the cab of her truck and had to be extricated by emergency responders. She was transported to UMass Medical Center Lakeside, according to officials.
The 57-year-old Virginia man driving the flatbed suffered minor injuries and was also transported to an area hospital.
Eastbound lanes were closed for just over an hour, and partial lane closures clogged the Pike until about 7:30 a.m. The crash remains under investigation.
