Watching ‘Star Wars’ with a white cherry Icee is the perfect New Year’s Eve

Do you have plans for this week’s most expensive holiday? No? Have you seen “Star Wars: The Force Awakens” yet? No? Well, why not go to the movies?

Select Showcase Cinema and SuperLux locations are hosting evening screenings of the latest “Star Wars,” complete with a big-screen viewing of the ball drop and champagne and sweets at midnight. Obvious age restrictions are applicable for the boozy and R-rated bits. And clever and frugal enough, a ticket costs a mere $20.16.

The screenings begin at 9 p.m. (or 9:05 p.m. at some locations), and showings of “Daddy’s Home” and “Sisters” will also be available with all that jazz in Dedham and Foxboro (or Chestnut Hill for “Sisters”) at slightly later start times.
