Hello reader,

Please read the paragraph after this the way a host might on an infomercial for a musical collection that is only available if you act now! Here is a good point of reference if you don’t know what the hell I’m talking about.

Have you ever liked one part of a song so much that you wish it could go on forever? Well, now it can!

OK, so did you read it in that voice? Perfect.

Anyway, ever since I began doing the Podcast two years ago, I’ve been getting more proficient in audio editing programs and looping portions of songs to play under the interviews. Granted, I still have a lot to learn, but I feel I’ve mastered it enough to give this endeavor you’re about to listen to a shot. Because I actually did like several parts of songs that I wished could go on forever, but when I’d download extended remixes there was a whole bunch of other crap in there that I was not too psyched about. This is why I developed what I call the Pat Healy Perfect Long Mix™

It’s basically the regular song you’ve come to know, but with the cool part that goes on and on and on and on, and then it eventually comes back to the song itself.

If you think this sounds like it’s no big to-do, you are totally wrong! That was also supposed to be read in that announcer voice. I should have given you more of a heads up there. Sorry. Anyway, the effect that each Pat Healy Perfect Long Mix™ has is different for each song. Sometimes it’s grating, other times the repetition establishes an entirely original groove on its own that you wouldn’t expect. And in some instances, you get lulled into forgetting that there’s even anything amiss.

Oh man, I’m so sorry to have kept you here without giving you any of the goods. Don’t worry, there’s no three easy payments of $9.99. It’s totally free. Why don’t you click below and get started while you’re reading the rest of this.

Do you get why that photo is there? It’s the “Me love you long time” scene from “Full Metal Jacket.” And [assume announcer voice again] The songs that have been given the Pat Healy Perfect Long Mix™ treatment will indeed love you long time!

They’re great for a work-out at the gym, when you hit a good stride and you want to keep it going. They’re great for freaking out your stoner friends. They’re great for aspiring reggae-style toasting and wedding DJ announcement interludes. Basically, the idea of the Pat Healy Perfect Long Mix™ is just all-around great!

If it’s streaming too slowly, just subscribe to the Metro Monthly Music Podcast on iTunes, and look for the entry called, “A Perfect Long Mix of Perfect Long Mixes.”

Enjoy responsibly and enjoy often! Here are the songs that are on the PHPLM®! I do have other songs that I have extended, but these 10 seemed to fit really well for the first installment. You may say, “Wait, how can you possibly think that a Wings song fits really well with a Bad Brains song?!” To you I simply say, in the universe of the PHPLM® all songs can fit together as long as they are awesome!
If you see what I’ve done as hubris, it was all done with the best intentions of exploring those cool parts of the songs in more depth. Also, you still use the word hubris? What is this, Greek mythology?
