Ashton Kutcher takes a vow of Twitter silence after Paterno comments

Following news that Joe Paterno, would be fired from his coaching
position at Penn State Ashton Kutcher quickly took to Twitter to record
his reaction.

“How do you fire Jo Pa? #insult #noclass as a hawkeye fan I find it in
poor taste,” Kutcher posted to his millions of Twitter followers.

Turns out, Kutcher wasn’t the only one insulted — his followers were too,
but for another reason. Kutcher’s apparent defense of Paterno, who
allegedly covered up former defensive coordinator, Jerry Sandusky’s
alleged sexual abuse of young boys. In response, Kutcher’s followers
vehemently responded that they found his tweet to be in poor taste.

Needless, to say Kutcher received his followers message loud and clear,
deleting his previous post and tweeting, “Heard Joe was fired, fully
recant previous tweet!” adding that he “[d]idn’t have the full story.”

It then got worse. Kutcher apparently decided that he had not yet fully removed his foot from his mouth, and decided to delete that message as well, adding: “As an advocate in the
fight against child sexual exploitation, I could not be more remorseful
for all involved in the Penn St. case.” He then pledged: “As
of immediately I will stop tweeting until I find a way to manage this
feed. I feel awful about this error. Won’t happen again.”

While Kutcher’s initial tweet has incited quite an uproar, it is noted
that this is not his first offense in the world of Twitter. As recently
as two months ago Kutcher had tweeted that September 11th was “the
greatest day of the year” in regard to the start of the football season.
Needless to say, the tweet was not well received and deemed
inappropriate and insensitive.

While the king of Twitter claims to have taken a vow of Twitter silence, one can only hope Kutcher will take his own advice and learn that tweeting the first thing that pops into his head is not a viable social media strategy.
