Blue Ivy Carter: Beyonce and Jay-Z welcome new baby

The couple, married in 2008, welcomed their first child at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan.

Music’s favorite couple, Beyonce and Jay-Z, welcomed their first bouncing bundle of joy last night, naming her Blue Ivy Carter.

Fellow celebrities and friends of the couple offered their congratulations to the new parents on Twitter.

“Welcome to the world princess Carter! Love Aunty Rih,” tweeted Rihanna.

Gwyneth Paltrow tweeted, “Welcome to the world Blue! We love you already.”

The couple, who married in 2008, reportedly went to great lengths to keep the birth under wraps at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. Beyonce checked in under the name Ingrid Jackson, according to the Daily News. The parents also spent $1.3 million to rent out the entire fourth floor of the hospital.
