VIDEO: Did Lana Del Rey’s weird ‘Saturday Night Live’ performance ruin her career?
For those who were on the fence about sultry songstress Lana Del Rey, her performance on “Saturday Night Live” did nothing to help her cause.
Del Rey stormed the scene as an internet sensation in 2011, but she was prone to criticism
from the start. Her Saturday appearance on national television was not
the breakthrough performance she needed, but rather the deciding factor
for many music fans who were already iffy about her.
It was like a confusing car wreck from which we could not tear our eyes. We found ourselves asking whether Del Rey’s awkward body motion (or lack thereof) was part of the act. Her notes often fell flat and she was visibly nervous. Points for the dress though — she looked great.
Is this the end of the buzz surrounding Lana Del Rey? (Brian Williams, for one, thinks so.)
