Sean Paul, Father John Misty and Michael Kiwanuka are the stars of the October podcast
Sean Paul, Morrissey, Father John Misty, Paloma Faith, Boyz II Men, Michael Kiwanuka, the Vaccines and Miguel all play crucial roles in this podcast. There’s a lot of talk of sex n’ drugs, which is why we marked it “Explicit,” but really, it’s not that raunchy.
Here we’ll lay it out for you: Miguel has a song called “Do You…” and it’s basically all about sex and drugs, and from there comes the obvious jumping off point of the false priest known as Father John Misty, who basically seems to celebrate sex and drugs with everything he does. He used to play in Fleet Foxes and on his own as J. Tillman, but with his recent debut under this moniker, “Fear Fun,” he has reinvented himself. On the October MMMPod, he discusses this reinvention.
Michael Kiwanuka talks about why he loves putting positivity in his music, and Sean Paul talks about the tender trap of being loved for party songs and wanting to be able to say more serious things.
Further on the topic of serious things, we examine another tender trap: Using words like Twitter, Facebook, chatrooms and e-mail in your songs. Britney Spears, Chris Brown, Morrisey and Beyonce have all done it to some extent. So has Paloma Faith and Boyz II Men, who we get to discuss it.
