Rihanna cancels Boston concert due to laryngitis
Pop singer Rihanna let down throngs of Boston-area fans today when she cancelled a concert scheduled for tonight at the TD Garden.
Around 1 p.m, she tweeted, “(Boston) this is the hardest thing for me to deal with! I feel like we’ve been waiting on this day forever, and I’m hurt that I let you down…. I hate disappointing people that never ever let me down!! I’m so embarrassed about this! Thank you for your prayers and well wishes!”
Live Nation announced this morning that the 25-year-old singer came down with laryngitis following a sold out concert Friday in Buffalo, New York.
A spokesman told The Daily News, “Unfortunately, following her sold out concert on Friday, Rihanna has contracted laryngitis and per doctor’s instruction is unable to perform this evening.”
TD Garden ticket holders were told to hang onto their tickets until the show is rescheduled, according to Live Nation.
The Diamonds World Tour singer has a show set for Tuesday in Baltimore. That concert is expected to go forward as planned.
