Rapper Jim Jones was arrested last night for allegedly driving stoned in the Bronx, a law enforcement source reported.

Jones, one of the original members of the rap collective The Diplomats, also known as Dipset, lives in Newark, N.J. He is also co-CEO of Diplomat Records with childhood friend and fellow Harlem native Cam’ron, also of The Diplomats.

The source said Jones was pulled over by a police officer from Highway 1 around 1:45 a.m. last night. The officers had seen Jones’ 2014 black two-door Chevy Impala speeding southbound on the Sheridan Expressway near the Bruckner Expressway in the Bronx.

The officer said Jones’ car reeked of marijuana or “hashish” and that his eyes were bloodshot. According to the officer, Jones appeared to be under the influence of a controlled substance, possibly marijuana.

Jones failed a field coordination test and refused to take a breathalyzer, the source said. He was arrested and charged with operating a vehicle while impaired by drugs and refusing to take a breathalyzer test.

Police did not find any drugs on Jones or in his car, the source said.

The Bronx District Attorney’s office said Jones is awaiting arraignment.
