Book event: Meet Pencils of Promise founder Adam Braun

Adam Braun
“The Promise of A Pencil” teaches ways to make a global difference, even if you aren’t famous or rich.

The problems plaguing the world today can be so overwhelming and it can feel like there isn’t much you can do, unless you’re a public figure or have a lot of money to donate. Pencils of Promise founder Adam Braun is looking to change that way of thinking with his new book, “The Promise of a Pencil.”

Founded by Adam Braun, the brother of Justin Bieber’s manager Scooter Braun, PoP aims to help the 57 million children around the world who don’t currently have access to education. The organization has opened more than 200 schools in the developing world, including Nicaragua, Guatemala and Ghana.

Despite his famous last name, Braun grew up just an ordinary guy in Connecticut. “The Promise of a Pencil” is about his journey from leaving a lucrative consulting job to venture into the nonprofit world. It also outlines things any person can do, regardless of race or socioeconomic background, to make a global impact.

Learn more when Braun hosts an event at the Barnes & Noble in Union Square on Thursday at 7 p.m. This is your chance to meet him and hear more about the book.
