Restaurant openings around NYC: Umami, Khe-Yo and more

Umami’s manly burger

Umami Burger
432 Sixth Ave., no phone yet
At Umami, the burgers are cut by hand, ground fresh throughout the day and hand-formed. All of the sauces and condiments are made in house too. We recommend the five-spice duck burger — it’s not on the menu, only those in the know can order it. There’s serious buzz about this place, which is up on Shake Shack level in terms of popularity. Don’t believe us? There was a three-hour wait on opening night.

Khe-Yo
157 Duane St., 212-587-1089
Ever have Laotian food? Now’s your chance, at this new restaurant from Iron Chef and restaurateur Marc Forgione. “Laos sits between Vietnam and Thailand and we pull our culinary influences from both countries,” says Executive Chef Soulayphet Schwader.

Piora
430 Hudson St., 212-960-3801
Piora, which translates to “blossom” in Korean, showcases American cuisine with touches of Italian, French and Korean flare. Bespoke cocktails come adorned with handcarved ice.

Goldenrod
449 Court St., no phone yet
In the former Otto Huber Brewery space in Bushwick comes Goldenrod, named after the beer the brewery made famous. It will house 40 American and international craft brews, 20 on tap and 20 by bottle — plus South Brooklyn Pizza.

Dag’s Patio Cafe
342 E. 47th St.,
Across the street from the UN headquarters you’ll find gourmet hot dogs and Pat LaFrieda burgers, all to be enjoyed al fresco.

VACCA Grill & Lounge
416 W. 203rd St., 212-544-0070
A former mechanic’s garage in Inwood is now the setting for this Euro-Latino steak and seafood spot.

Upright Brew House
547 Hudson St., 212-810-9944
This hybrid space serves locally roasted coffee during the day and craft brews at night, alongside a menu of burgers and sandwiches. Downstairs, there’s pinball!

Paradise Biryani Pointe
77 Lexington Ave., 212-686-2299
The premier Indian chain makes its way to Manhattan, focusing on the traditional dish of slow-cooked meat and basmati rice.

Tuttles Bar Grill & Garden
735 Second Ave., 646-422-7072
A two-story venue with a 36-foot marble bar, five flat-screens and a beer garden.
