Outback is giving out free Bloomin’ Onion appetizers today
Outback Steakhouse is giving out free Bloomin’ Onion appetizers today at all of their locations. The popular restaurant chain is celebrating the LSU Tigers’ 21-14 victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes at the 2014 Outback Bowl in Tampa. All customers have to do is say “Outback Bowl” to their servers; the offer is valid with any purchase at the restaurant. Customers would have had a win-win situation regardless of who won the Outback Bowl: If the Hawkeyes had won, Outback would have given away free coconut shrimp appetizers.
The college football players certainly enjoyed the appetizers. Outback hosted the teams for a welcome dinner in Tampa, where they ate nearly 5,000 pounds of food, including 1,600 Coconut Shrimp and 160 Bloomin’ Onions.
This is the second year Outback is giving away free Bloomin’ Onions in lieu of the Outback Bowl. Last year, after the South Carolina Gamecocks won the game, Outback gave away over 70,000 free Bloomin’ Onions to their customers. According to a press release, the promotion was so popular at one restaurant in South Carolina that the line stretched into North Carolina.
