It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood!
On what would have been the 85th birthday of Fred Rogers, star of the beloved children’s show “Mr Rogers’ Neighborhood,” we take a look back at America’s favorite friendly neighbor through the years.
Rogers died Feb. 27, 2003 from cancer at the age of 74, but his memory lives on in the hearts of millions who grew up watching him remove his shoes as he asked, “Won’t you be my neighbor?”
The non-profit that operates in his honor, The Fred Rogers Company, recommends celebrating the occasion by wearing a sweater and doing something neighborly.
Still, no one can wear it as well as the original Mr. Rogers.
