One woman has set off a media firestorm after posting an Instagram selfie of her post-baby body. Caroline Berg Eriksen, a Norwegian fitness blogger and wife of soccer player Lars Kristian-Eriksen, put up a photo of her sculpted, Victoria’s Secret runway-ready body on Instagram, complete in just her skivvies. The photo was posted not even four days after giving birth to her daughter Neilia, and it set off a great deal of criticism in Norway and around the world. The 26-year-old captioned the photo, “I feel so empty, and still not 4 days after birth.”

Norwegian blogger Suzanne Aabel wrote, “I am 32 years old and feel fat because [Erikson] gave birth four days ago and published a picture on her Instagram in a sexy little pink bra and matching panties.” She added, “What is the purpose here? Why is this positive?” She also wrote that she is concerned about the psychological effect this will have on teenage girls who see Eriksen as a role model.

Eriksen has received plenty of backlash on Instagram. One user commented, “I’m sorry but she did not post this to say she felt empty without her bump. Is the push-up bra and undied needed? She posted it to show off her body!” However, most commenters praised her and told her to ignore the criticism.

Eriksen defended herself on “Good Morning America,” saying, “During the pregnancy people kept telling me that my body would never would be the same. I wanted to tell everybody that that is not entirely true. Right after birth, like three minutes after, I felt like myself again.”

The controversy comes at the heels of the debacle surrounding fitness blogger Maria Kang’s photo. The mother came under fire after posting a photo of herself in skimpy fitness attire with her three children and the caption, “What’s your excuse?” Bloggers accused Kang of fat-shaming, but the fitness enthusiast has used the attention to her advantage, now referring to herself as the “No Excuse Mom.”
