The Word: Seth Rogen slams his flops
The Seth Rogen and Barbra Streisand vehicle “The Guilt Trip” probably has some fans somewhere, but they don’t include Seth Rogen – he says it’s strictly airplane fodder.
“We shot that movie in the format that plays on airplanes only,” he joked on the podcast Doug Loves Movies.
“‘You’ve got to talk over the engine; there’s announcements early on in the flights. You’ve got to take that into consideration.’”
The comedy star didn’t just slam the work of other screenwriters, though – he also admitted that “The Green Hornet,” which he cowrote, was “a perfect storm of bad s— happening,” according to E! Online.
He bemoaned the challenges of making a comedy meant to satisfy the American and Chinese markets at the same time.
“We shouldn’t make expensive movies where he can’t just do a million dick jokes,” he said. “That’s what we’ve learned over the years. That’s our strength. Play to your strengths.”
On the other hand, Seth is excited about his upcoming cowritten comedy “This is the End,” he told Metro. “The actors were really into it. I don’t think anyone said no based on content. We were going out to these actors to see if they would play themselves so they were overwhelmingly psyched about it. It was nice to see that some people thought it was a good idea.”
