The Word: Kelly Osbourne is engaged

Well, this was a pretty terrible weekend, wasn’t it, everyone? It was way too hot, the national news was terrible, and even the normally comforting celebrity news was awful (RIP Cory Monteith).

Well, here’s one little ray of sunshine: Kelly Osbourne is engaged to her boyfriend of one year, vegan chef Matthew Mosshart. I think that’s just great. I feel intuitively that the perfect person to make “Fashion Police” star Kelly happy is a veggie lover with a sweet California surfer boy grin. And clearly Kelly agrees. ”I’ve never felt this close to another human being, ever. People say we’re codependent but we just want to be together all the time,” she told Hello! magazine.

“I knew she was ‘The One’ pretty early on,” Matthew added.

Attention rest of the world: Engagement announcements and baby photos only for the rest of the week, please. I am placing an embargo on tragedies.

Kelly has been feeling pretty good about herself lately, but she’d still like a little validation, it seems. “I’m fabulous,” she boasts to Cosmopolitan magazine. “I need a Golden Globe. What is life if you’re not going to live it to the fullest?”

The outspoken star has big plans for the future at home as well — though some aspects of starting a family give her pause: “I do want babies, but I don’t want a great big vagina,” she says.
