The Word: One Direction’s Liam Payne buys pal $1.5 million drink

Liam Payne champagne

Here’s a tip: If “One Direction” singer Liam Payne ever says to you, “Let me buy you a drink,” let him. Unless you’re his money manager.

Payne showed off his generosity in a big way on Tuesday night at a party for his friend, Nigerian rapper Wizkid, when he reportedly bought his pal a bottle of “Taste of Diamonds” champagne that cost more than $1.5 million. The singer hasn’t commented, but an Instagram photo from designer Alexander Amosu shows him pouring the champagne for his pal.

According to the Daily Mail, Payne earned around $6.5 million this year, so he can afford to be generous – sort of. He probably shouldn’t go this big every weekend. Then again, I live in Manhattan, so a single drink is a third of my salary, too. Go for it, Liam. Live while you’re young.

“One Direction” star Harry Styles appeared to skulk off mid-concert last week to be sick in a corner. While his bandmates were singing “Rock Me,” they kept peeking back to where Harry was crouched under some scaffolding, as you can see from the video below. It’s not clear if actual vomit made an appearance, but its presence is heavily implied from Harry’s miserable posture, the towel he uses to wipe his mouth, and the water he swigs.

Harry rejoined his “One Direction” bandmates, but during a cover of “Teenage Dirtbag,” appeared waxy and unfocused. Feel better, Harry! And until you do, maybe don’t do so many spinny dance moves.
