The Word: Jason Sudeikis quits ‘Saturday Night Live’
We’ve more or less known it for months, but now it’s official: Jason Sudeikis is leaving “Saturday Night Live.”
Sudeikis, who’s had a long eight-year run as a cast member on the live sketch comedy show, confirmed his exit last night on “Late Night with David Letterman.”
“I’m definitely done,” he told Letterman. “I’m gonna leave. I’m not coming back next fall.”
After two years on the show as a writer and eight as a cast member, Sudeikis says the habit of spending his summers brainstorming sketches will be hard to break. “You start to get that itch probably in August where all these sketch ideas will show up and I’ll be like, ‘Well, can I make this sketch idea last 90 minutes and turn it into a movie?’ Probably not.”
Come on, turning sketches into movies always works. “It’s Pat” was cinematic gold.
Sudeikis has lost weight of late, and that it’s all thanks to his fiancee Olivia Wilde’s, um, influence. “The truth is, I’m not getting up an hour earlier and walking on a treadmill. I have the greatest workout partner in the world. And you don’t need a gym membership for that kind of workout,” he told Elle.
