The Word: J.K. Rowling is writing a new Harry Potter movie

J.K. Rowling
J.K. Rowling wants to explore more of the Harry Potter universe.

If you own earplugs, better put them in, because everyone who was a child between 1995 and now is about to start screaming.

J.K. Rowling is a writing a new movie set in the world of “Harry Potter.” According to Deadline, the titular character will not appear in the spinoff film, “Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them,” which is neither a sequel nor a prequel to the Harry Potter series. “Fantastic Beasts” is based on one of Harry’s Hogwarts textbooks, and will kick off in New York 70 years before the Potter books. The story will feature characters from the Potterverse’s detailed mythology, including Newt Scamander, author of the eponymous textbook.

It is expected to be the first in a series.

When you have a client as wealthy and famous as J.K. Rowling, you do your best to keep her happy. It’s too bad the British law firm Russells didn’t follow suit.

One of the partners at the law firm was behind the leak that Rowling penned the book “The Cuckoo’s Calling” under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith. A partner in the firm let the secret slip to his wife’s best friend, who then leaked it to the British press, the Associated Press reported.
