The Word: How did Bill Nye do on ‘Dancing With the Stars’?

I was never sure how I felt about Bill Nye going on “Dancing With the Stars.”

I understand that even TV scientists have to work, but he was a huge part of my childhood, and it just felt kind of beneath him, you know? Like, he should have his own show called “Science With the Stars,” where C-list celebrities have to compete to sequence DNA and test cancer drugs on white mice. But on the other hand, he’s apparently a big ballroom dancing fan in real life, and I want him to have things that he wants.

Unfortunately, it’s now a moot point: Bill fell at the end of last week’s dance, severely tearing his quadriceps. Though he soldiered on, performing a robot dance to Daft Punk’s “Get Lucky” to avoid putting strain on his injury, his low scores sent him packing. Yeah, but let’s see the rest of those guys explain glaciation.

DWTS dance pro Karina Smirnoff has a new dance-themed workout video. “When you go to the gym you really concentrate on single muscle groups. When you do yoga, it is repetitive poses. Dancing works every muscle, and also, you’re not exercising at the same rate continually, so your heart rate is going up and down. It’s great cardio. And you’re having fun and looking sexy. It’s the only workout where you look sexy,” Smirnoff told Metro.
