Nigella Lawson reportedly banned from US over drug use

Celebrity chef Nigella Lawson was reportedly turned away from a flight to the United States because of her admitted drug use. According to the Daily Mail, Lawson was spotted at Heathrow Airport’s Terminal Five attempting to board a flight to Los Angeles, only to be told that she cannot travel to the US.

“She didn’t seem to say much, but she did not look happy,” said a witness. “She could not get on the flight so she had to turn around and leave.”

A travel ban will certainly crimp the celebrity chef’s style, since she’s a judge on ABC’s “The Taste.” Lawson has never been convicted of a drug crime, but when testifying against her former assistants in their fraud trial, she admitted under oath to taking cocaine seven times and using cannabis in front of her children. Apparently, that was enough for US border authorities to decide she was a bad influence on our impressionable little nation.

Nigella is not the first celeb to run into drug-related travel difficulties: Supermodel Kate Moss found it impossible to get a US work visa after photos of her cutting up a white powder emerged. Let’s hope border control can keep up the good work and keep America cocaine-free.
