Celebrating Veterans Day

Celebrate our veterans, meet American Revolution re-enactors and search for objects in scavenger hunts at New-York Historical Society’s Veteran’s Day Celebration.

Living History: Third New Jersey Regiment
Attention! The Third New Jersey Regiment is a living history troop dedicated to accurately representing the common soldier from the American Revolution. Come and meet these members of the Third as they appeared at Valley Forge in the winter of 1777, commanded by Colonel Elias Dayton. See the uniforms, material, drills and exercises up close!

Beekman Family Scavenger Hunt
Meet the Beekmans, a Dutch New-York family who trace their arrival in New Amsterdam to 1647! The New-York Historical Society has many objects this family used everyday and for special occasions. Search high and low in the museum and discover what it was like to live in Dutch New York.

Civil War Scavenger Hunt
In honor of the book The Civil War in 50 Objects by Harold Holzer and the New-York Historical Society, this hunt takes families on a journey around the Museum to find Civil War objects that tell amazing stories. Can you spot the shackles once used on an enslaved child? What about the models of Abraham Lincoln’s hands?
