#True 28

BCAE Offers Exclusive First Look at New App & Lifestyle Program #True28

With the arrival of each New Year comes new resolutions and goals. Over 100 million Americans resolve to change their life to some extent in the New Year, but less than half actually stick to their resolutions. This year the Boston Center for Adult Education (BCAE) invites students to take a new approach to a healthy lifestyle with #True28, a four part class focusing on the fitness, lifestyle and nutrition principals of the #True28 app. Developed by Chef Samuel Monsour and Astrid Bengtson, #True28 help students take their health into their own hands by bridging the gap between the Paleolithic Era – how we lived for 2.6 million years – and the present.

Available for iOS devices in early 2014, students will purchase the #True28 app upon enrolling and practice their #True28 lifestyle throughout the 28 days of February. Each Saturday, users will meet with Sam and Astrid to review their progress and fine tune their fitness and cooking techniques. Chef Monsour will draw upon his experience cooking at the award-winning JM Curley restaurant as he teaches students how to make meals that are as nutritious as they are delicious. Astrid will share the knowledge she’s cultivated at her North End fitness studio, BodyTalk Boston, as she leads students through fitness routines.

Participants will learn how to utilize the four features of the app— Power, Provisions, Presence, and Progress through hands-on workshops, tutorials, cooking demos and progressive exercise classes. Students will learn the philosophy of #true28 by discovering how to adjust their diet and mindset to lead happy, healthy and meaningful lives. Each three hour session will feature a progressive exercise led by Astrid (exercises included in app) followed by a paleo brunch prepared by chef Samuel (recipes included in app).
