Newly founded, Nojé plays music of the 17th and 18th centuries. Its core players are Ann Bies, recorder and baroque flute, and Anne Schuster Hunter, baroque bassoon and recorder. Ann Bies has played, performed and coached recorder in the Philadelphia area for more than a decade, with particular interest in 16th- and 17th-century repertoire, recorder music of the high baroque, and recorder consorts. She also plays baroque flute and the Balkan folk instruments kaval and tilinka and is a member of the Mother Zwiefacher Orchestra and the English Country Dance band Earl Grey, Hot. Anne Hunter plays recorder, bassoon and dulcian in Philadelphia as well. Both perform with the Penn Recorder Ensemble and Baroque Ensembles of the University of Pennsylvania.
