The 2013 Deutsche Bank Championship

The 2013 Deutsche Bank Championship

The 2013 Deutsche Bank Championship – the second event of the FedExCup Playoffs – brings the world’s best golfers to New England over Labor Day Weekend for four rounds of championship golf, preceded by practice rounds, pro-am tournaments and family-friendly activities. Kicking off Championship week is Community Appreciation Day – as a way to celebrate charity, community and volunteerism, grounds admission on Wednesday, Aug. 28, is free to all spectators.

The top 100 golfers on the PGA TOUR, including defending champion Rory McIlroy; past champions Tiger Woods, Phil Mickelson, Webb Simpson, Vijay Singh, Steve Stricker, Adam Scott; and more are expected to compete for the $8 million purse and FedExCup ranking points that determine the top 70 players moving on to the third round of the Playoffs.

The Championship features family-friendly activities for both kids and parents to enjoy the game of golf, including special kids zones providing children with an up-close, unobstructed view of the action. Children 15 years and younger receive complimentary grounds admission throughout the week with an accompanying ticketed adult, and the Championship has established specific family parking at the Comcast Center and concession areas located at Spectator Commons at the 18th and ninth greens and the 16th green concession stands. Kids meals include peanut butter & jelly sandwiches, hot dogs and milk.

Kid Village also returns for 2013 and allows families to step away from the course to enjoy miniature golf, arts & crafts, face painting, moon bounces and more. Fans of all ages are also invited to meet the professional PGA TOUR players as they pass through the autograph area on their way back to the locker rooms.

Wednesday, Aug. 28:    Community Appreciation Day (free to all spectators)
Aug. 30 – Sept. 1:           Competition rounds 1-3
Sept. 2:                                Final competition round
