URBAN SHAMAN: Helicopters

Urban Shaman

The Jazz Club Series at the Multicultural Arts Center presents a special collaborative performance that crosses art forms and geographical borders, blending modern dance and Jazz in a world premiere that is not to be missed. URBAN SHAMAN: Helicopters, a project of Swiss/ Italian choreographer Angelo Dello Iacono (ADN Dialect and its Urban Shaman initiative) and Boston composer Ben Schwendener (Ben Schwendener’s Mobile Trio), features dancers from Boston Arts Academy (BAA) and Boston Conservatory (BOCO) along with members of ADN Dialect, a Swiss Dance Company, conveying a feeling of trance and a commonality of international cultures through the universal language of dance and music.

The culmination of a two-week residency at BAA and BOCO, URBAN SHAMAN: Helicopters is the first of a series of performances occurring during 2013/2014 in the USA, Switzerland and Italy. The program also includes a special guest performance by Shari Repasz, (and dancers), with a premiere of the dance landscape A Peaceful Storm.

Tickets: $20/$15 for  students (with ID), seniors (65+), JazzBoston and BDA members (with membership cards.)

Tickets are sold online at www.multiculturalartscenter.org/events (until one hour before the performance) and at the box office at the Multicultural Arts Center. For more information call 617-577-1400.

Presented in collaboration with Gravity Arts, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping innovative artists realize their projects, contributing to the creative enrichment locally, nationally and internationally.
