If you need a break from the Halloween scream/boozefest this weekend — take a stroll down to Seaport Boulevard where some 5,000 intricately carved pumpkins will be illuminated on display as part of RISE of the Jack O' Lanterns. The four day, family-friendly event will take over the Seaport Hotel and World Trade Center with thousands of real pumpkins (and larger-than-life, pumpkin-made structures) that have been hand-carved and manipulated to portray pop culture, fantasy and the macabre. Guests are invited to explore the indoor path while a musical score plays.
RISE — which hosts sister productions in New York, New Jersey and California — and works with more than 150 artists on both coasts to make the magic happen — is making its Boston debut this year, a feat that executive producer Mike Pollock deems not so easy. “It's been a long tough road to make this work over the past five years," he says. "I'm lucky to have found great people to work with."
