Ready to brave the crowds? Plan to get out to the Esplanade early. The annual Pops + fireworks extravaganza officially starts at 8:30 p.m. for the concert, but we all know you can't get there that late. Gates open at 9 a.m., with a special new edition to the forbidden items list: You officially cannot bring a drone with you.

Pops concert not for you? Celebrate America’s birthday dancing the night away aboard the yacht Provincetown II. Complete with a cash bar and a live DJ for your entertainment, the cruise goes out July 3 and July 4, so you have two chances to indulge. Meet the yacht by 6:30 p.m. at 200 Seaport Blvd in South Boston. It sails at 7:00 p.m. Admission starts at $40, and tickets are available on eventbrite.com.

The Boston Harborfest kicks off today with opening ceremony at 11am at Faneuil Hall. Nationally recognized as one of the biggest patriotic events, the festival celebrates Boston’s vital role the festival is a perfect family-friendly event.
