Fourth burned body found in Boston area

For the fourth time in about a month, a burned body was found in Massachusetts.

Authorities on Tuesday were investigating a body that was discovered burned in Milton early Tuesday morning.

According the Norfolk County District Attorney’s Office, a passerby spotted a fire under a footbridge on Blue Hill Avenue on the Mattapan border.

When authorities arrived on scene, they determined that there were human remains in the fire. The location is known as a hangout spot for homeless people, according to investigators.

“We cannot call this a suspicious death yet,” Norfolk DA press secretary David Traub said. “It appears that under the bridge is a homeless encampment where there may have an open fire. The medical examiner took the body, but we are not sure if there will be an identification today. Authorities are not treating this as suspicious and are not handling it as a homicide, but is not ruled out.”

Since Nov. 5, bodies have been found burned in Bridgewater, Worcester, Mattapan.
