A level-three sex offender is under arrest in connection with the sexual assault of two women in their South End home.

Ronald Brown, 52, was arrested around 2:45 a.m. Wednesday and charged with rape, home invasion, kidnapping and indecent assault and battery, Boston police said.

On Tuesday, Brown broke in the women’s home near the intersection of Columbus Avenue and Clarendon Street, police said. He tied up the two women and raped one of them, investigators said.

Authorities did not give further details about attack, beyond noting that the suspect entered the home through a back window.

Brown has two previous convictions for aggravated rape in 1986, WBZ reported. He is a level three sex offender, the category reserved for violent offenders.

He was held without bail Wednesday. No information was available as to whether Brown had obtained a lawyer who could comment on the charges on his behalf.
