Stop the dresses! Marc Jacobs spring/summer collection stolen

Excited for the release of Marc Jacobs Spring/Summer 2012 collection? Well, don’t get too excited, because it’s been stolen.

Jacobs’ team emailed out this statement Thursday:

Dear all, the Marc Jacobs PR team is sorry
to inform you that our press day tomorrow in the Marc Jacobs store is
canceled, due to the theft of the spring/summer 2012 collections during
its transfer from Paris.

The collection is said to have included 46 looks all of which are reportedly missing in action.

While it seems bizarre that the designer’s line could have just gone kaput, this is not the first time a designer’s collection has been hijacked. In 2007, Christopher Kane’s entire Spring/Summer 2008 collection was stolen by burglars from his studio just days before his London Fashion Week show. Victoria Beckham was also a victim of couture crime when 75 Victoria Beckham pieces were stolen on the way to a Neiman Marcus in New York, in 2009.

With magazines starting to shoot their spring editorials now, the Marc Jacobs frocks could not have been swiped at a worse time.
