NFL Playoffs: Storylines to watch
Three storylines to watch this weekend:
1. Tebow: Which Tim Tebow is going to show up on Sunday? We’re obviously very fond of the immortal fourth quarter Tebow, the one who transforms into a superhero and carries his team to victory. But the Tebow that hasn’t received much publicity lately is the one who has limped into the playoffs, with the Broncos losers of their last three games. The Broncos may catch the Steelers at the right time, however, as Ben Roethlisberger is banged up, and Rashard Mendenhall is out for the remainder of the postseason with a torn ACL.
2. Upset city: If the Bengals take down the Texans, they will be the team the Patriots play next week in Foxboro. You’d be hard-pressed to find anybody who picked the Bengals to make the playoffs, and while they did just sneak in, it’s quite an accomplishment. Cincy is riding on the success of rookie QB Andy Dalton and rookie wide receiver A.J. Green.
3. No love: Las Vegas certainly isn’t showing any love for the Detroit Lions as they head into Saturday night’s game against the Saints as 10-point underdogs. While major media outlets such as Sports Illustrated have picked the Saints to win the Super Bowl (over the Pats), it would be foolish for them to overlook an offense that boasts Matt Stafford at QB and arguably the best wide receiver in the game, Calvin Johnson. Drew Brees will be on the lookout for Ndamukong Suh as well. It should be a shootout in New Orleans.
