Fashion’s Night Out: Kim Kardashian, Alexa Chung and more

For more information on the night and retail events head to www.fashionsnightout.com.

Start picking out your cutest outfit, because fashion’s biggest party is back. On Sept. 6, 500 cities nationwide will celebrate Fashion’s Night Out—the global shopping event spearheaded by Anna Wintour and Vogue in 2009 to boost spending during the recession.

On the big night, retail stores stay open late — offering customers discounts, prizes, goodies (free champagne, thanks!), a chance to mingle with designers and celebrities, musical performances and more. Some of the confirmed celebs making the rounds this year include: Alexa Chung, Kim Kardashian, Jennifer Hudson, Karlie Kloss, Solange Knowles and Nicole Richie.

Because it’s turned into such a monstrous event, you’ll want to grab a copy of our FNO guide on Sept. 6 for all the best spots to party, like MAC’s Soho boutique, where Azealia Banks will take the stage! In the meantime, here are some NYC highlights so far:

Henri Bendel
Catch a live performance of Cirque Du Soleil’s Zumanity. Plus, cocktails from The Mulberry Project’s mixologists and bites from some of NYC’s best food trucks.

Max Mara
Get a scoop of gelato from famed “gelateria” Grom, while entering for a the chance to win a trip to Milan and seat at Max Mara’s Fall/Winter 2013 runway show.

Maybelline
No time to primp before getting out of the office? Maybelline’s got your back. The makeup giant will take over the Meatpacking District with their Color Studio Lounge. Enjoy makeovers by top artists before stepping into their custom photo studio. Once you’re dolled up, find the store where Michael Fassbender is going to be drinking.

Macy’s
Michael Kors hosts a fashion trivia night at Macy’s new shoe floor—the world’s largest. Play a round and then grab a cocktail or stop for a touch-up at one of the store’s nail bars before heading to the junior’s department to hang with designer Tommy Hilfiger and actress Britt Robinson. If wining and dining is more your thing, Macy’s Culinary Council chef, Johnny Iuzzini, will be stationed on the sixth floor to share entertaining tips. And if you’re into mindless debauchery, roll a cigar with Scott Disick in the men’s section on the third floor.

Saks
It’s makeover time at Saks. Love Erin Fetherston’s signature bangs? Rub elbows with the designer while hairstylist Edward Tricomi gives you the Fetherston look. Then, get styled with custom-print Suno nail art from Minx Nails with designers Max Osterweis and Erin Beatty. But the real reason to stop by is the chance for a private consultation with Tom Pecheux, creative director/makeup genius of Estee Lauder.
