Michelle Obama picks Jason Wu again!
A re-election of President Obama means four more years of us oohing and ahhing over Michelle Obama’s exciting and well-thought out wardrobe choices. For the inaugural ball, the first lady went with the same designer she chose four year ago: Jason Wu.
And just like last time, Wu had no clue he had landed the high-profile gig. He immediately tweeted, “#Inshock!!!”
As he explained in an interview with WWD, “Mrs. Obama likes to keep her secrets. She surprised me again. She’s really good at it,” he said. “I was so nervous. You’d think I wouldn’t be since I’d experienced it before but I really was.”
Unlike the dreamy white gown he designed in 2009, Wu created a bold ruby-red, floor length showstopper.
“Like last time, I had to go with my gut. I instinctively had to think of the woman in the dress. After four years in office, I thought the country was ready to see a confident First Lady in red. It just felt right.”
