Banana Republic collaborates with L’Wren Scott

Banana Republic goes Barneys. In a surprise move, Banana Republic is teaming up with super exclusive designer L’Wren Scott for their Holiday 2013 collection.

Scott, known for her glamorous and luxe designs (prices for, say, a blouse in her line range in the thousands) as well, as being Mick Jaggers girlfriend, will create a 50-piece collection with the retailer set to hit stores on December 5.

“That was the challenge,” said Simon Kneen, creative director and executive vice president of design of Banana Republic today in a WWD article, adding, “She’s much more couture than we’d ever be.”

Somehow the two met in the middle. Keens says Scott “wanted some of the sportswear sensibility that we bring.”

We, for one, can’t wait to get our hands on the affordable line ranging from $39.50 to $165. These will include party-ready items like bejewelled cardigans, lace dresses, fitted jackets in dressy fabrics like brocade and velvet and Scott’s signature jeans, and original prints such as a peony she drew inspired by the one growing in her garden.

Check out these sketches and this handbag from the line and start plotting your strategy for next season now.
