A Lynn teenager has pleaded not guilty in connection to a deadly Chelsea shooting this past weekend.
On Tuesday,Emanuel Marrero, 16,was arraigned on charges of murder, armed assault with intent to murder, and assault and battery with a dangerous weapon in the shooting death of 19-year-old Pablo Villeda. RELATED:Teen arrested for fatal Chelsea shooting Prosecutors said that, besides killing Villeda, Marrero also injured six people when he opened fire on a crowded party early Sunday morning. About 50 people were gathered at the party in a vacant three-room apartment on Washington Avenue. “One young man is dead,”Suffolk County District Attorney Daniel F. Conleysaid in a statement. “Six others, some as young as 15, were nearly killed. Chelsea and State Police detectives took this case extremely seriously, and it’s clear the community did as well.” RELATED:Seven shot in Chelsea
Chelsea detectives and the Suffolk County State Police Detective Unit have eyewitness statements, video surveillance and telephone records suggesting “one gun and one shooter – the defendant,” Assistant District Attorney Julie Higgins added. Marrero, who was being held without bail, is scheduled to return to court on April 8.
