Police have caught a 20-year-old in connection with fatal shooting of an innocent bystander last weekend in Chelsea.

Hector Ramires, of Chelsea is expected to be arraigned in court today in connection with the fatal shooting of Catherine Gomez on Shawmut Street early Saturday.

Gomez, 35, was killed inside a Shawmut Street home from what appears to be a stray bullet. The Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office has said the woman was not the intended target of the shooting. Two groups, according to that office, were “engaged in conflict” outside when someone drew a gun and fired.

Police released a still photo from surveillance footage of two men wanted in connection with the shooting.

Chelsea Police, along with State Police, arrested Ramires Monday.
