Trooper investigated for not stopping Boston-area wrong-way driver

A video showing a driver heading the wrong-way in Nahant has led to an investigation into why a state trooper did not stop the errant driver.

State police said to Fox25 that an internal investigation has been launched to learn why that trooper, who was behind the car, did not pull over the motorist for traveling down the wrong side of the 2-mile Nahant Causeway.

“We will conduct an investigation to determine if criminal or civil traffic charges are warranted against the wrong-way operator.” Massachusetts State Police spokesperson David Procopio was quoted by WCVB. “Second, we will review the trooper’s response during the incident.”

The driver, headed north in the southbound lanes, eventually got onto the correct side and was then reportedly followed by the state trooper for half a mile, but that trooper apparently did nothing to the motorist, WCVB added.

“I mean, you did something wrong, you should probably be pulled over for it,” one person told Fox25.
