State police have arrested 32-year-oldJose F.Robles of Taunton as the man who forced a mother and her infant out of their car at gunpoint in Brockton on Tuesday morning, according to WCVB.

The woman was putting her daughter in the backseat of her 2007 Toyota Camry outside of the Westgate Mallwhen Robles approached her and demanded her car keys. WCVB reported that the woman and her daughter were believed to be uninjured.

NECN reported that the car, occupied by the suspect, was located on Arch Street in Brocktonat about noon and state police pursued the vehicle into Stoughton. The chase lastedthreemiles until Robles crashed into a utility pole. He attempted to flee by foot but was taken into custody.

Robleswas charged with armed carjacking androbbery, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended licenseand failure to stop for police, according to NECN.

He was turned over to Brockton Police custodyand will be arraigned Wednesday.
