State police have arrested 32-year-old Jose F. Robles of Taunton as the man who forced a mother and her infant out of their car at gunpoint in Brockton on Tuesday morning, according to WCVB.
The woman was putting her daughter in the backseat of her 2007 Toyota Camry outside of the Westgate Mall when Robles approached her and demanded her car keys. WCVB reported that the woman and her daughter were believed to be uninjured.
NECN reported that the car, occupied by the suspect, was located on Arch Street in Brockton at about noon and state police pursued the vehicle into Stoughton. The chase lasted three miles until Robles crashed into a utility pole. He attempted to flee by foot but was taken into custody.
Robles was charged with armed carjacking and robbery, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, operating with a suspended license and failure to stop for police, according to NECN.
He was turned over to Brockton Police custody and will be arraigned Wednesday.
